'Submerged' - 35 x 50 cm (including >1cm border)
Cyanotype print and watercolour on paper embellished with ink.
'Submerged' is a semi-abstract portrait of a childhood friend. Meticulously rendered in watercolour and ink, her profile is framed within circular cyanotypes that contain silhouette impressions of seaweed. Flowing around these forms are more abstract, dreamlike tendrils in a celestial sea of ink and watercolour layers giving a sense of the subconscious. A dark world in which our subject faces towards light and hope.
The title 'Submerged' relates to the idea of strength in the face of overwhelming adversity and being able to conjure the power within yourself to keep facing forward.
